Why You Should Build Your Online Shop With WordPress, BuddyPress and WooCommerce

by Sven Lehnert | News, WooCommerce BuddyPress

I got a mail from a WordPress developer, and he asked me a simple question:

What is the primary use case, for WooCommerce store owners, for your extension?

As the developer of the WooCommerce BuddyPress Integration Plugin I needed to do something to clarify this once and for all 😉 Seriously, if a developer asks such a question, there needs to be many users out there who I’d like to explain why I build this plugin.

We build shops for years and most clients start with a small shop and one initial idea in mind. Mostly they don’t think about what’s the next step for their online shop if their online business successes and the initial idea evaluates and grows.

In the beginning, a simple shop solution feeds most startup needs.
As your user base grows, you may want to have some deeper integration to your customers. Get in contact and keep them coming back.

Most eCommerce Sites Do 5 Terribly Dangerous Mistakes

  1. They do not collect every data possible.
  2. They do not have a redundant user database.
  3. They did not imaging where their shop will grow to.
  4. They did not investigate in building trusted relationships
  5. They were lost in support and service structures and SaaS service.

It’s always the same. To run a successful eCommerce business today is much more then to just have an online shop and sell your products with some payment gateway to pay the products. This is the basic setup that every shop system provides. But it does nothing else for you, your business and your customers.

Studies found out that returning customers are the ones you earn the most with. Customer relationships need trust. Without trust user will leave your site sooner than later.

Building customer trust is less difficult if you use WooCommerce and BuddyPress together

We talk about live chats, well organized support systems, pre-sale questions funny games where you let them win stuff, Support or Product specific content… If you get closer to your customers and listen to what they have to say you will create the deep trust and get the information and data you need to improve your products and service.

To achieve all this, WordPress, BuddyPress and WooCommerce are the tools to go with and its the reason why we build the WooCommerce for BuddyPress Integration Plugin.

Lets make an Example

Create an achievement system, that brings your customers fun, and they will come back.

An achievement system is a system, where the users get different levels (or points), depending on their activity and what they have done and achieved on your site. For example, if a user in a forum answers 3 question he gets a “Supporter” level/achievement.. It’s up to your creativity how to use it for your business and create your own achievements rules.

This was just one example of endless extensions available and I will leave it with this one. WordPress has plugins for almost any purpose, but what’s important at this place, that with the WooCommerce for BuddyPress Integration, you can integrate it all with your shop and give your users a private member area to find it all.

We have build it to give shop owners the playground of social network components.

You should not ask yourself one day

  • I need all this information – why didn’t I collect it?
  • Why didn’t I bind the users to my shop when I had this bulk of users coming to my place??
  • Why did I miss all these chances??

Most online store owners realize that they missed a big chance when they first did it wrong and missed it.

Always remember, it’s all about conversion. Recurring customers are your goal.

Like WooCommerce, most plugins come with their own views in the frontend. Some plugins come with extra account settings. The more plugins you use, the more different user-relevant places will exist on your site and with more services and plugin the level begins where you loose control and your customers get lost.

Keep it centralized!
With the WooCommerce for BuddyPress Integration you can have the power of all combined to one:
WordPress Plugins, WooCommerce Plugins, and all of the BuddyPress world becomes centralized in one place, for easy access to your users and your services.

WordPress and BuddyPress have API’s and therefore we can build integrations more solid. That also means we can integrate services like Zendesk, HelpScout, Basecamp, Highrise, Salesforce and so on right into the user profiles. And there are already plugins for the most services.

We just need to bring all this into the users profile and keep it centralized.
